7 Gentle Questions to Help You Read, Understand, and Respond

Sometimes reading Scripture can feel overwhelming, especially when you are not sure where to start or what you are supposed to “get out of it.” This simple guide is here to help you slow down, notice what God may be showing you, and respond honestly in your walk with Jesus.

You can use these questions with any Scripture passage you are already reading. It could be one verse, a few verses, a chapter, a devotional passage, or part of your regular Bible reading plan.

How to Use This Guide

Choose a Scripture passage and read it slowly. You may want to read it more than once. As you read, ask God to help you understand His Word and receive what He wants to show you.

Then, work through the questions below. You do not have to answer every question perfectly or write a long response. A few honest sentences are enough. The goal is not to study like a scholar, but to meet with Jesus, understand His Word more clearly, and let it shape your heart.

A Simple Prayer Before You Begin

Lord, open my heart as I read Your Word. Help me understand what You are saying and notice what You want me to see. Teach me, comfort me, correct me, and draw me closer to Jesus. Amen.
